Precious Object

Image
This is an affirmation that I decorated per Julia Cameron's instructions.  I look at it everyday and remember to try very hard to take good care of myself which promotes self-esteem and self-respect.

Cosmos

Image
This is the first plate that I created using permanent marker... some of the patterns got away from me and turned into eyeballs.  It reminds me of whirling planets. Cosmos 2018. Early stages.

Whirlpool

Image
Whirlpool.  Permanent marker on ceramic plate.  2018. The more of these I make, the more I realize I need to assign a price value and try to start selling them.  I recently cleared out some space on my walls so I can create more and easily store new works that could ultimately function together in a show.

Symbiotic

Image
A drawing from 2017  My oregano plant in 2018 I recently discovered this drawing in an old sketch book.  It made me happy because the doodle pre-dates any attempt I ever made to garden, but look at me now!

Lost in Space (unfinished)

Image
This painting continues to evolve... I incorporated some collaged pieces from flyers that I picked up recently at some galleries.  I really like the technique of using too much paint behind each image which creates a little definition and helps integrate the images with the painted background.  This piece mainly relates to anxiety regarding the environment and the consequences of failing to maintain its' health.  It's not very optimistic, but I do try to find beauty where possible.

Bob

Image
I started a new sketch series today... since I seem to like cartoons so much I'm drawing some of my favorites.  This version of Bob seems a little too happy...

Platypus

Image
An odd creature indeed... when doing this sketch, I learned the tail stores fat reserves and the venomous spur (unseen) is on the inside of the webbed foot.

Tiger

Image
I chose to sketch a tiger in this posture because I like the dainty front paw.  It's still very two-dimensional and cartoonish.

Fresh Flowers

Image
I picked these flowers from my secret garden:

Floral Plate

Image
This is a very small plate that I decorated in a very floral pattern.  Just for fun, here is a photo of me working on it:

Lilly

Image
While attempting to draw a tattoo for my friend, I realized how difficult it is to draw a realistic flower (and this is really only an outline).

Dreamweaver

Image
This is a new plate I decorated using permanent Sharpie markers which works way better in terms of staying put.  I chose to give this one a title (Dreamweaver) because it has a lot of personality, especially reminding me of eyeballs and glances.
