Chihuaha

This is the first in a series of sketches of animals.  I like how cute and cartoonish it i.

Plates 3

Image
I finally managed to get a couple more plates on the wall.  This piece keeps evolving... I wish I could find plate holders to support the small cup saucer plates (that way I could have increased variation in size and pattern).  I'm also going to experiment with Sharpies instead of Crayola markers to deal will issues of durability and permanence.

Jackson Pollock

Image
I recently attempted to paint in the style of Jackson Pollock.  I bought some of those really runny paints on sale at Joann's.  As you can see, it's very easy to overdo it with the action painting.

Sunset with Mountains

Image
"Sunset with Mountains".  28" x 20".  Acrylic paint on canvas.  $200. I'm 90% sure that it's finished.  I think it would look great with a frame.   This painting came about unexpectedly, but essentially is an abstracted landscrape during a vibrant sunset.  I especially tried to get a sense of depth and perspective by adding darker, more dense foliage in the foreground and obscuring the background.  I used a couple of different techniques for applying the paint, especially relying on the use of time for the dripping effect.

Easter and Spring

Image
This year I'm really feeling the idea of Springtime as a period of renewal and rebirth.

Plates 2

This project has been a major hassle for a number of reasons, but I'm pleased with this overall effect so far.
